Aviva preps for NIGHTBIKE with some crucial last-minute mascara application. Thanks to Glen

for capturing this special moment.

Still having a hard time with the nighttime bike photography. I'm working on it. This is me and Glen

and Brian and Aviva enjoying the view from the Brooklyn Bridge during our special midnight edition

of NIGHTBIKE. It was a pretty mellow edition, since almost everyone bailed last minute. It's really

hard to get people to NOT go to a bar on a Friday night, I guess. Big whatever to that one. Oh,

BTW, I will not be abbreviating words like "whatevs" anymore after Aviva showed me a hard-hitting

exposé in the New York Times on how word-abbreviation is the hip new slang trend. Whatevs!

Okay, that was the last one. RIP Whatevs.

So anyway, our small yet adventurous bike gang rode over the Brooklyn Bridge and, while I was still

trying to catch my breath after huffing and puffing my way over the incline (bridges are hard!), Aviva

took it upon herself to climb out on a frighteningly narrow beam over speeding bridge traffic. What?

Oh, no big deal.

The lady knows a sick photo opp when she sees it!

We rode to the Brooklyn Heights Promenade which has a beautiful view of the water (which I

forgot to take pictures of) and we had us a little midnight picnic over there. Me and Aviva got donut

peaches. Donut peaches!! So cute! How have I never noticed these things before??

Glen got "cheddar beer" flavored chips. "Cheddar beer" flavored chips are also new to me. I tasted

one and guess what? It tastes like cheddar. And beer. Blarggghh!

Oh, this really weird thing happened when we rode back to the city. We stopped at the bottom of

the bridge for a few minutes and this normal-looking guy that we had passed jogging on the bridge

ran over to us and said, all alarmed, "Do you feel safe here?! It's not safe here! You should get away

from here NOW!" And then he ran off like his life depended on it. It was straight out of a bad horror

movie. There was a group of kids hanging out nearby and we couldn't figure out if he thought those

kids were gonna mug us, or if he thought that aliens were gonna come abduct us or something.

Either way, not wanting to chance it, we rode on.

Next Wednesday will be Aviva's last NIGHTBIKE journey before she goes off to kickboxing camp

in Thailand for three months (no joke). She wants me to assume leadership and keep doing it after

she leaves but I don't know if I have the chops!

I'll try.
